African Head Charge
Songs Of Praise 2LP

African Head Charge’s 1990 masterpiece of rugged dub psychedelia is now given more room to breathe on a 2LP pressing, packing tracks previously only found on the CD to give a definitive new lease of life to a proper UK classic

The 5th AHC album, ‘Songs of Praise’ (1990) sees Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah take a more central role alongside dub maverick Adrian Sherwood on the mixing desk at a crest of his creative powers.

It’s a hypnotically balmy session drifting between digi-dub gospel in ‘Hymn’ to killer, deep yacht rock dub in ‘Dervish Chant’ and an unmissable digidub blues ace ‘My God’, plus stepping disco on ‘Gospel Train’, and more Tackhead-like industrial rudeness meets Arabic strings in ‘God Is Great’, and a frazzled mix of Thai Molam vocal with dub noise in ‘Special Mix’.

A no brainer for the outernational massive.
